KILLARNEY

BLARNEY CASTLE

BLARNEY CASTLE

Killarney is Ireland’s premiere tourist destination. It is the perfect base from which to view all of the wonderful attractions of South West Ireland.Killarney itself is a lovely town. It has Hotels and Guest Houses to suit every budget. Or if you are staying for any length of time we would recommend staying in a cottage or apartment and really get a feel for the Irish way of life.

It is a wonderful shopping center, with an abundance of local shops, antique dealers, china and glassware shops (Waterford Crystal not being too far away), local crafts and plenty of souvenirs to remind you of this lovely place. It also has a lively night life with plenty of Irish pubs and some great restaurants.

While here  some definite must visits are: Killarney National Park, the Ring of Kerry, traditional farms, Torc Waterfall, Muckross House, Blarney Castle, the old Copper Mines, Ross Castle and Killarney Cathedral.

If this isn’t enough to keep you busy you can walk amongst some of the most fabulous scenery in Ireland, climb mountains, cycle, fish, go  horse riding,  play golf or even go surfing.

If your interest is in wildlife and/or photography there is plenty for you to see and photograph. Birdwatching, Dolphins and of course the Irish or Killarney Red Deer are all there to be seen.  The Red Deer have been here since before the Ice Age and are now protected from hunting. During the months of October and November when the “Rut”  is on you can hear the roaring of the stags and the clash of antlers around the Lakes of Killarney.

If you were to ask the locals what are the best things to see and do while in Killarney there are at least  30 top tourist attractions!! I will list a few of them for you:
