CHRISTMAS IN SWITZERLAND

 Posted by Roy

Carrying on with my Christmas theme how about Christmas in Switzerland. To make it that little bit unusual why not try one of the Christmas Rail Journeys.

A holiday by rail makes your journey part of the travel experience. Watch the landscape change as it slides by and relax with your fellow travelers in the comfort of the train. Discover exciting cities and great sights all linked by rail.

While sitting comfortably you can appreciate the grandeur of the Alpine Mountains and Lakes. The small towns with their pretty swiss chalets and a backdrop of snow covered peaks. One of them Meiringen, hosts the lively “Trychein” festival between Christmas and New Year.

While there take the mountain railway and ascend the Schilthorn and enjoy the famous revolving restaurant. A further excursion travels by train to the pretty village of Grindelwald, which nestles at the foot of the north face of the Eiger.

A sleigh ride, a traditional Christmas Eve dinner and a torch-lit walk through the Alpbach Forest is the perfect way to spend Christmas in Switzerland.
